Gallops Track, Cranbourne Turf Club, Victoria

A new lighting system is currently being installed for Racing Victoria Limited at the Cranbourne Turf Club for CTV coverage of gallops night racing.

The 1200 lux track lighting level is being provided by 750 x 2kW metal halide Sylvania R2 Maxi floodlights using 2kW Active Reactors with dimming capability. The lights will be dimmed to 60% design level before the races commence in-between races and after the last race to save energy (and prolong lamp life) and also to reduce light spill in the residential areas abutting the racecourse.

The complete lighting installation is controlled by a SCADA based computer system which controls the light switching, sequencing, dimming and monitoring functions.
